There is always a question about how you “should” dress for different occasions: whether it’s nights out, festivals or work meetings. When it comes to fashion, I tend to dance to the beat of my own drum.
Constructing my Spring/Summer wardrobe this season was much easier and I feel like I’ve found a good rhythm.
Clear out what you no longer wear:
I started by sorting out the items that I didn’t wear throughout the previous season, selling them off or giving them to the less fortunate people. This is my best advice for keeping your wardrobe fresh. Don’t store the items thinking that “sometime” you might wear them. Let them go and create space for the items you know you will wear over and over again.
Use wish list:
If I am looking to buy a lot of new items from different stores, to make sure I’m not ordering similar things, I make full use of the online functions such as “wish list”. This way I can be certain I am purchasing the items that will fulfill my wardrobe for the season ahead as these days I try to buy a lot more items that won’t go out of style as quickly as some others.
What makes you excited:
The biggest advice I can give when creating your style for the season is always to wear what makes you happy and comfortable. Some people dress for other women or for men, but personally I like to dress for myself and how I feel most comfortable and attractive.
Buy less, Choose wisely:
If you go to the shop and instantly feel like you want to buy something, wait a couple of days and see if you still like it. This very simple method can easily save you a lot of money and it will prevent you from buying unnecessary items.
“Beauty is a glow that can’t be bought. It’s a light in the heart and a natural aura that can’t be achieved no matter how hard you “slay your highlight”.
I recently became more interested in timeless clothing, which will last in my wardrobe for as long as possible. I’ve let go of the fast fashion hauling and more for better quality, classic outfits.
One thing that has helped my style evolve the most over the years has been my ability to give less f***s. Not caring at all what people think of your style and simply dressing how you feel good has been my most valued asset over the years. If I want to wear the same skirt for an entire season, I will. All you need is confidence.
My Mantra in life is to basically just choose well. Rather than big orders from online stores, I take time to choose well so that I don’t have to regret impulsive purchase.
